The government of India is reportedly looking to transfer all pending cases related to OTT platforms in high court to the Supreme Court. The secretaries of information & broadcasting as well as the IT ministry filed the transfer petition.
The government is framing guidelines to regulate the content over OTT platforms. This move is being made to get OTT platforms under the Central Board of Film Certification under the Cinematograph Act. The minister of Information & Broadcasting (I&B), Mr. Prakash Javadekar gave a statement that ensured that OTT guidelines will be coming out soon.
Last month, the makers of the OTT series Mirzapur were issued notices along with the producers of the show. Before which, several Amazon India executives were summoned in relation to the various controversies that came up with relation to Saif Ali khan starrer web series tandav.
